3D printing composites
REIN4CED is the first Belgian company able to 3D-print composites that are stronger than aluminium.
REIN4CED has the capability to 3D-print parts with continuous carbon, glass and aramid fibers. The stiffness and strength of these 3D-printed composites is more than ten times higher than with conventional 3D-printed materials. Furthermore, REIN4CED has the expertise to optimize the orientation and lay-up of the fibres so that a printed part can replace a metal part.
The high stiffness and strength per weight allows us to 3D-print structural parts with less material. This way, it is possible to reduce both the printing cost and weight compared to conventional 3D-prints. The diagram to the right shows that our 3D-printed composites are a few tens of times more stiff and strong per weight than commonly used 3D-printing plastics. Printed carbon fiber can compete with the stiffness per weight of aluminium, while all three kinds of fibers can compete with the strength per weight of aluminium.
